Fragments of Eternity was a large-scale multimedia installation exhibited in Klapper Gallery of Queens College in New York, April of 2023. The exhibition was comprised of a hanging installation of 600 found objects (which I collected over the span of a year from various parts of the world), a sound installation of recorded sounds, ancient instruments, and my voice, as well as 600 poems hanging on the walls, with each poem corresponding to one of the hanging objects.
This project took almost 2 years to create, and the exhibition existed for only a short period of time. Nevertheless, I feel it made an impact that stretched beyond the walls of the gallery. While the visual, sonic, and text based elements of the piece coalesced into one living organism, they also spoke to one another, reflected one another, and supported one another. Walking through the space one would experience the circulation and transformation of materials, sounds, and words, and how the human story is weaved through that circulation. To look at an object, hear a sound, or read a word is to see one’s self. This installation created the space necessary for people to notice that they are not separate from, but an essential part of all that is.

The below films are short fragments of the exhibiton; filmed, edited, and produced by Alfred Matérn, a dear friend who I have had the pleasure working with before. You can see more of his films at https://vimeo.com/alfredmatern
